Frequently Asked Questions - (FAQ's)
Are your kayaks more stable than a canoe?
We use various models to suit a wide variety of kayakers - large or small, young & old, experienced and novice. All are extremely stable and not at all "tippy". All of our kayaks are "user friendly" - they are easy to handle, extremely stable and not at all "tippy".
Do I have to be an active athlete to kayak?
No. You can paddle at your own pace. The kayaks are light and move through the water with ease, even with light paddle strokes. The cockpits are roomy and easy to get in and out of, even for full-size paddlers.
I'm 6 ft 8 inches tall, do you have a kayak that will fit me?
Yes. Our Pungo 140 is 14 ft long, 28 inches wide, holds up to 350 lbs and will give you plenty of leg room and the opening is large enough to provide easy access. Our largest kayak, the Pamlico 160T at 15'6" , 33" wide and weight limit of 650 is more than enough to hold even the most robust of paddlers.
We have small children, is it safe for them to kayak with us?
Absolutely. We have family kayaks that have two seats and an extra "kiddie" seat that can be set between mom & dad. And of course we have PFD's (personal floatation devices) to fit the smallest paddlers - even infants. The beam on this kayak is 31.5" and it holds 450 lbs total. It is a very safe and stable kayak and also very popular.
How about bringing Fido?
We will even have some small doggie life jackets this summer so bring him along for the ride!
I don't know how to eskimo roll, can I still kayak safely?
Yes. Our kayaks are Recreational Style Kayaks. They have a very wide cockpit and are not meant to roll over.
What if I tip over in my kayak?
Basic safety equipment and training is included with every kayak rental.
